Choice Art, also known as Teaching for Artistic Behavior, is an Art Education philosophy that strives to offer an authentic artist's experience to all students. Through experimentation and problem-solving, students bring their creative ideas to life in a visual form. They learn about materials and techniques during mini-lessons, one-on-one conferences with their teacher and peers, and on an as-needed basis when solving problems throughout their individual projects.

DISPLAYS
Rather than a display like this where all the artwork looks the same and the idea has been created by the teacher...
Rather than a display like this where all the artwork looks the same and the idea has been created by the teacher...
you'll see more displays like this, where every artwork is unique and original!
PROJECTS
Rather than projects being...
- designed by the teacher
- directed step-by-step by the teacher
- problem-solved by the teacher
- assessed on a standardized skill scale
In a Choice-Based Art (TAB) classroom, projects are...
- designed by each student
- problem-solved by each student, step-by-step
- authentic artists' learning experiences
- assessed on an individual growth basis
ROOM SET-UP
Rather than the room looking like this with table pods and all students working on the same project side-by-side...
the room is divided into studio areas with color-coded labels on all materials. This helps students access materials efficiently and work more independently.
